How to avoid procrastination during study leave

Are you worried or stressed about the upcoming exams? Many students struggle with organising their revision leading up to end of year tests. Personally, I struggle with maintaining upkeep of revision materials, which may result in a ‘mind blockage’ of unorganised work. Which is totally okay and can easily be sorted. For example, making checklists, notes, colour coding work, and sharing topic ideas with others can be a more effective way of naturally arranging revision.

Moreover, another common problem with students is their motivation levels. Due to the increased amount of work and the gradual build a lack of revision, people begin to feel overwhelmed when it comes to starting on work and will ignore or block it out.

Some ideas to encourage motivation during study leave include:

  • Prioritising tasks you struggle with the most.

  • Taking regular breaks where you spend time doing things you are interested in.

  • Creating a schedule.

  • Connect with friends.

  • Don’t doubt yourself.

Therefore, the use of study leave is vital in planning ahead for future exams, even if you haven’t begun any revision resources yet. To decrease any stress, studies show that spacing out learning is 90% more effective than cramming last minute.
